Doing your own work because you understand the value of your own education.Turning in work that somebody or something else (A.I.) created.
Giving credit to your sources, and their work, when directly quoting and/or paraphrasing. Not putting direct quotations inside quotation marks and/or not giving credit to your sources. Paraphrasing somebody else’s research or ideas without giving credit to the source. (Changing a few words here and there is not enough.)
Learning from work created by other people, such as using mentor texts to study writing techniques. Applying what you’ve learned to your own original work.Copying any piece of work found on the internet (history essay, story, poem, math project, science report, etc.) and turning it in with your own name on it.
Asking permission from your teacher before using generative A.I. tools to complete an assignment or project.Using A.I. to write a school assignment or create a project without direct teacher permission. Without teacher permission, you may not use A.I. to complete assigned work.  If you are given direct permission to use A.I., you must give credit to the source.
Understanding when it’s okay to work with a partner and share ideas and when you need to work independently.Turning in the same piece of writing that a friend turns in (or a VERY similar piece of writing).
Learning from other people and accepting help while understanding that performance tasks need to show what YOU can do independently.Turning in a paper with sentences or paragraphs written by a friend, family member, or tutor.
Using study materials provided by the teacher. Studying for a quiz or test with friends and helping each other master the material ahead of time. Asking teachers for help.Sharing answers on a quiz/test with other students while taking the assessment.
