Principal’s November Message

A Message from the Principal: Gratitude, Community, and Looking Ahead

Dear Madison Families,

As we enter November and begin heading into the holiday season, I want to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for the privilege of serving as Principal of Madison Middle School.

With more than 1,000 students, leading Madison is both an incredible honor and an enormous responsibility. Each day, our staff and administrative team are entrusted with supporting not only the academic growth of our students but also their social-emotional well-being, sense of belonging, and personal development. It is a responsibility I take seriously and one that I am grateful to share with a dedicated team of educators and support staff.

We are fortunate to have an outstanding staff who genuinely care about our students, a strong and supportive PTSA, and a community that takes tremendous pride in its neighborhood middle school. These partnerships are among Madison’s greatest strengths, and they provide a strong foundation for the work ahead.

Of course, like any school, we have areas where we must continue to grow and improve. I recognize that there are challenges to address, systems to strengthen, and opportunities to better serve our students and families. However, I firmly believe that through collaboration, shared accountability, and a commitment to continuous improvement, we can make Madison Middle School a model of what a truly exceptional middle school can be—one where ALL students feel connected, supported, challenged, and empowered to succeed.

This work will not happen overnight, but I am excited about what we can accomplish together over the next several years. Our vision of Every Bulldog Connected is more than a theme; it is a commitment to ensuring that every student knows they belong and that their success matters.

Upcoming Events at Madison

Thursday, November 5 – Math Night and Book Fair | 6:30 p.m.

We invite all Madison families to join us beginning at 6:30 p.m. for our annual Math Night and Book Fair! This is a wonderful opportunity to come together as a school community, enjoy an evening of fun and engaging math games, explore books, and celebrate learning. We hope to see many of you there!

Friday, November 6 – Veterans Day Assembly

Madison will recognize Veterans Day a few days early with a special school assembly honoring the men and women who have served our country. We anticipate welcoming one or two guest speakers who will share their experiences and reflections on service. This is an important opportunity for our students to learn about sacrifice, service, and the significance of honoring our veterans.

Wednesday, November 11 – Veterans Day (No School)

Madison Middle School and all Seattle Public Schools will be closed in observance of Veterans Day.

Thursday, November 26 – Thanksgiving Day (No School)

Madison Middle School will be closed in observance of Thanksgiving, a time to reflect on gratitude, family, community, and the many things for which we are thankful.

Friday, November 27 – Native American Heritage Day (No School)

Madison Middle School will remain closed in observance of Native American Heritage Day. This day provides an important opportunity to recognize and honor the rich histories, cultures, traditions, and ongoing contributions of Native American peoples, including the Indigenous communities whose ancestral lands we live, learn, and work upon.

Thank You, Bulldog Families!

As we move toward the Thanksgiving holiday, I want to thank each of you for your continued partnership, support, and trust. Our students benefit most when schools and families work together, and I deeply appreciate the role you play in making Madison a special place.

I am proud to be part of this community, optimistic about our future, and committed to the work of making Madison Middle School a place where every student can thrive.

Go Bulldogs!

Warm regards,

Dr. Pierce,

E. Scott Pierce, EdD Principal Madison Middle School
