Madison Middle School and the Puget Sound Adlerian Society will be sponsoring a 7 week long positive discipline class for parents and guardians of Madison students. Anita Garcia Morales, who has decades of experience teaching in Seattle Public Schools and working in the district’s race and equity department, will be teaching a course around research-backed strategies parents/guardians can use with teens to help facilitate better relationships for their kids at home, in school and in the community at large. This course is free and childcare will be provided.

The classes will take place at the High Point Community Center (6920 34th Ave SW, Seattle, WA 98126). Each class will be two hours long, running from 6 to 8pm. They will be held on the following dates October 20th, October 27th, November 3rd, November 17th, December 1st, December 8th and December 15th.  Call or email to register (252-9200).

From the Puget Sound Adlerian Society website:

“The courses help adults “work with” rather than “do to” children. Research is showing that improving family relationships is an effective path to mental and physical health for our children in midlife, and also to greater longevity.”
